Giovanni Bassano e a tradição da arte de diminuir

Resumo

 Este trabalho tem como proposta relacionar as publicações de Giovanni Bassano dedicadas à arte de diminuir, o tratado Ricercate, Passaggi, et Cadentie (1585) e a coletânea Motetti, Madrigali et Canzoni Francese (1591), e a tratadística sobre este assunto, em especial a Opera Intitulata Fontegara (1535), tratado sobre flauta doce e diminuição de Silvestro Ganassi, e o Tratado de Glosas (1553), de Diego Ortiz. Ambas as publicações de Bassano têm como única fonte de instrução suas cartas ao leitor, porém tais instruções podem ser por vezes imprecisas ou enigmáticas, sendo crucial a contextualização das obras para o seu entendimento e interpretação do repertorio nelas contido.

 Giovanni Bassano and the Tradition of the Art of Diminution 

This paper aims to relate how the publications of Giovanni Bassano dedicated to the art of diminution, the treatise Ricercate, Passaggi, et Cadentie (1585) and the collection Motetti, Madrigali et Canzoni Francese (1591), and the treatise on this subject, especially the Opera Intitulada Fontegara (1535), a treatise about recorder and diminution by Silvestro Ganassi, and the Tratado de Glosas (1553), by Diego Ortiz. Both of Bassano's publications have his letters to the reader as their only source of instruction, yet such instructions can be at times inaccurate or enigmatic, and contextualizing the works is crucial to understanding and interpreting the repertoire contained therein.
